Like many others around the world, we at STS Brand are finding that working from home is quickly becoming the new normal. Whether you're making the jump into telecommuting for health reasons or for a new remote job, we have everything you need to set up the perfect home office.

Here are five tips to help you get started!

1. Rise and Shine!


The most important step to successfully work from home is to wake up on the right side of the bed and set up a morning routine to get yourself in the right headspace for work. Get ready as if you were going into the office, but maybe switch out your blazer and loafers for something a bit more comfortable. Don't forget to pick the perfect outfit for video conferences!

2. Location, Location, Location


Designate one or two areas in your home as makeshift office spaces. In order to best separate work from your personal life, stay away from your bedroom if possible. Turn your kitchen counter into a standing desk or claim the coffee table from 9 to 5—whatever works best for you to create a productive workspace! Once you've found the right space, organize it so that all of your tech and supplies are within reach.

3. Keep In Touch


Say hello to your new work-from-home best friends: Slack, Zoom, FaceTime, and Skype. It can be easy to isolate yourself when working from home, but the best way to get a job done is still through teamwork! Keep in touch with your team throughout the business day to post project updates, give each other encouragement, or simply catch up on how everyone is doing. Being out of the office doesn't mean you have to miss out on office socializing!

4. Take Five (Or Fifteen!)


Although it can sometimes be difficult to get started when working from home, it can also be difficult to stop working. Set aside some time in your calendar to avoid burnout by taking a break. Take a short walk outside, do the crossword, make a fresh cup of coffee, take time to do something for yourself that is energizing and away from your desk.

5. Be Kind


...to yourself, your coworkers, your delivery person, your neighbors, etc. Making the transition into working from home can be hard if you aren't used to it, but you'll learn your best practices for it in no time. Until you get into the flow of things, be kind to yourself and others; we're all going through these changes together.
